toptentuesdayIt’s Tuesday again which means time for another round of Top Ten Tuesday; I like joining in on this meme because I have a set topic to work with. Top Ten Tuesday is a book blogger meme that is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and this week the theme is: Books I’m Not Sure I Want To Read. These are ten books that are on my shelf but I’m lacking motivation to read them. I think I need to be convinced to one way or another.

ttt-12-8-1

  • The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
  • Moby-Dick; or, The Whale by Herman Melville
  • Tinkers by Paul Harding
  • Finnegans Wake by James Joyce
  • The Black Echo by Michael Connelly

ttt-12-8-2

  • The Godfather by Mario Puzo
  • Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel
  • Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins
  • Freedom by Jonathan Franzen
  • Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke

I loved Bring Up the Bodies, but you’ve got to love Wolf Hall first – if you don’t, take it off your list.

  2. Moby Dick is a doozy. I’ve decided if I ever get around to reading it I’ll do it this way: http://www.mobydickbigread.com/

I had always been considering Tinkers but I read Enon and decided that author isn’t for me. Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is another I’ve always wanted to try but the size discourages me.

The only one I’ve read is The Godfather and if you like books about the mafia or crime and/or enjoyed the movies, then I highly recommend it. It’s kind of long but really easy and enjoyable to read.

The Black Echo is a quick read. It’s not the best in the Harry Bosch series but if you are into crime thrillers, it’s a good one.
