Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Was “Forced” to Read

Posted October 15, 2013 by Michael @ Knowledge Lost in Top Ten Tuesday / 0 Comments

toptentuesdayIt’s Tuesday again which means time for another round of Top Ten Tuesday; I like joining in of this meme because I have a set topic to work with. Top Ten Tuesday is a book blogger meme that is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and this week the theme is: Books I Was “Forced” to Read. I don’t like the word “Forced”, but what I’m going to do since this blog is a product of an online bookclub, I’m going to pick ten books (in no particular order) that was picked as a read in the group and I really enjoyed. I’m only picking books I hadn’t read before (so no Lolita, The Fault in our Stars, Night Circus, etc).

I recently read One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, and it truly is a phenomenal book. Wonderful, wonderful read. I’ve also read The Day of the Triffids, which I think I actually preferred to The War of the Worlds…

  2. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is one of my all-time favorites. Tipping the Velvet is also fantastic (can’t go wrong with Sarah Waters) and The Bell Jar was a pleasant surprise for me. Revolutionary Road, The Day of the Triffids and The Master and Margarita are already on my TBR but will have to check out the rest on your list now!

If you haven’t already, definitely check out some of John Wyndham’s other books. I’ve only read 3 or 4 now, but they’ve all been creative and interesting.

I’m thinking about joining this meme. I usually avoid them but I always enjoy seeing everyone’s answers and, let’s face it, if you’re suffering from writer’s block or are pressed for time it gives a nice little post for a Tuesday.

Lots here I have either read or want to. How are you finding the Bell Jar? I read it not so long ago and haven’t compiled my thoughts yet. I think I could have perhaps benefited from reading it at a younger age! Am dying to read The Dud Avocado and The M & M is just a masterpiece.
